Ooobie on Everything

Take a Walk on the Dark Side

Trump finally has caved to incessant pressure and bile from the left and destructive obstructionism from the GOP nabobs and is moving to the dark side for succor. He wants action and the only group in Congress willing to accommodate him are Democrats. For a price. The price apparently is to do everything the Democrats want, while shafting his voting base. His readiness to accede has earned him high praise from the Trump Haters, who want to see more such suicidal acts from the president, and pure fury from his base. The irony is that the Trump Haters will manage to use Trump’s capitulation against him before all is said and done. (“A man without principles!” and who can object?)

Trump’s latest perfidy is the betrayal on immigration. Who wants to send these wonderful people home? he asks us. My answer is I would, Mr. President. At some point the US has to convey vividly that it will enforce its border by saying no to the legalization of those who have come here illegally. Our government doesn’t know the difference between legal and illegal as far as I can tell. Our failure to articulate that difference has given an opening to groups like La Raza to erase the distinction entirely and assert a right for the illegals to live here, work here and even vote here (and vote they do).

Trump’s deal with Nancy and Chuck was a dirty one. It was done not only out of spite against Ryan and McConnell and all the other GOP elitists, but of course, out of conviction as conveyed to him by Ivanka and Jared. In return he took what the Dems offered, vague promises of support for future border security measures, the same old, same old. And Trump cavalierly tells us that the wall thing — it is nothing but patching up holes in whatever useless contrivances we have erected at present. The other wall thing, the one that actually is built and secures our border, that wall is in the future somewhere and apparently still at the mercy of the Democrats.

Trump seems to believe his own hype that we’d forgive him even if he shot a man while walking down Fifth Avenue. Here’s a news flash: I won’t. And for me his imperious action on DACA and his back-door deals are the equivalent of cold-blooded murder.

Instead of trying to relaunch as a fervent DACA supporter, Trump should be calling out the chest-thumping Latino governments for refusing to welcome home and assist these brilliant, good, talented, persecuted and saintly youths. These “kids,” many of them, are now adults, having been shipped out of Mexico wholesale in an earlier immigration inundation with the encouragement of one corrupt Mexican government or another. Today many have the skills or education that will enable them not only to function, but succeed in their home country. They already speak the lingo, they know the culture, and their presence will bolster Mexico’s middle class as a whole. Mexico could do with a good dose of middle class conscience and work ethic. If I were Trump, I’d offer assistance for the relocation of these people in their home countries, whether Mexico or Peru. I applaud the growing number of “Dreamers” who have come to the same conclusion. Trump should be on this, but his governance so far lacks imagination and direction.

What galls most, of course, is the lack of honor Trump is showing. I’m tired of policy decisions based on his mood or his umbrage level and not on practicalities and realities. I say that even knowing that the GOP Congress deserves the treatment it is getting for being obstructionist and unproductive to an extreme, squandering its few remaining moments of “total power” to do nothing at all. But Trump made promises, not a lot but very specific ones, and on the basis of those promises he won his election. Immigration reform and a wall were one promise, and a  new direction in US foreign policy away from interventionism and regime change and toward constructive cooperation was another.

Instead of mending fences with Russia, Trump now thumbs his nose at the country and its leader. Why? Because each new senseless act to insult Russia or “punish it” gets the anti-Trump maniacs briefly, for one instant, off his back. There seems to be little consideration given to the wider implications of his actions and policies; everything is transitory and reactive. In Syria, after calling off CIA assistance to an assorted group of terrorists, Trump has given his blessings to continued meddling. Having failed to stop the Syrian government, with Russian military assistance, from reasserting control over wider and wider areas of the country, now we are seeking to carve off a piece of the country to create a state of Kurdistan that some, and especially the Turks, see as a threat to their own security.

Meanwhile, over at State, Tillerson is being advised by the same nincompoops who advised Obama. The USG expelled Russian diplomats for alleged intervention in US politics. This led to a retaliatory expulsion of many, many more US diplomats from Russia (and don’t you wonder why we have so many there?). The State Department judged Russia’s action “unwarranted” and tore up the Vienna Diplomatic Convention in response. The FBI used Gestapo tactics against Russian diplomats in San Francisco, where the latter were given just 48 hours to vacate their homes so that they could be searched top to bottom. The Consulate was given similar treatment in the wake of its ordered closure, and the smoke from the chimneys indicated the frenzied destruction of protected diplomatic communications to prevent them from becoming FBI toilet paper. Agents also seized Russian-owned properties used as recreation for their diplomats and staff. This is behavior even the KGB didn’t exhibit in the USSR — they at least had the decency to search our apartments when we were gone, without all the drama and terror. And when the US Embassy once suffered a fire during the Cold War years, the US was very concerned about even Soviet firemen entering the building! Where will it all end?

So there stands Donald Trump, angry at everybody in the whole world and determined to get something done, no matter how traitorous or counterproductive or dangerous it is. He is being guided by people who step by step are teaching him that wrong decisions beget a negative response from the Dark State, and right decisions get praised. Most importantly, by not caring what he gets, he can make deals day and night with the Democrats.

McCarthyism Lives

Joe McCarthy only found 205 spies in the State Department. Imagine that, and all the hysteria surrounding the claim. Quite recently, nine hundred State Department “professionals” signed a dissent channel message that was pretty clearly coordinated with the media for maximum impact. It was an act of political defiance against the president and his supporters among the US public.

But onward to other traitors. There are of late a few serious commentators who are trying to focus public attention on the swelling sociopathic intolerance in the US. This McCarthyism is exercised in its current incarnation by the left, not the right, which only goes to prove the dictum that the extreme left and extreme right are identical in all ugly essentials. Such experts in Russian and US-Russian affairs as Dr. Stephen F. Cohen of NYU are trying to call attention to the dangers of this intolerance, which is expressed in ostracism of and sometimes violence against anybody not on board with the meme that Russia is an enemy of America. They are trying to swamp the airwaves with the idea that Russia in collusion with Trump was responsible for Hillary Clinton’s appalling loss. Cohen disarticulates their allegations brilliantly in his discourses, but the bottom line is: no evidence to prove charges that appear to be politically motivated. He sees the relentless campaign of half-truths and lies as destructive of US-Russian relations and an effort to impede any improvement. He concludes that these goals are part of the Democrat game plan. I myself have never experienced such a wave of hysteria among a public agitated by the propagandists (hence agit-prop). Obama calls these people community organizers and sees himself as the King of All Community Organizers. Their goal: to deliberately undermine the government and remove the sitting president from office. To replace said president with a nominee of the Deep State and its financiers.

In their battle to take the White House, the left long ago sacrificed truth. Truth is whatever serves their crusade for permanent power and global socialism. The Russian card was planted before the Obama Administration left the premises, likely as an ace in the hole, a tasty bit of blackmail against what the planters thought would be be a Republican minority. When the US voters shafted the Democrat party, the Russia ploy took on major importance as a red herring leading the public to focus not on the corrupt Dems and their corrupt candidate as the cause of defeat, but on a treacherous Trump somehow in bed with the Russians. The Dems operate on nearly one hundred percent supposition and assumption. Recall that the first document to kick off the campaign, surfaced by Deep State agent John Brennan, was an “intelligence assessment,” shorthand for this is a result of brain-storming without actual evidence or only bits and bobs of evidence. (See “Intelligence Assessment and Unpredictability” at https://sourcesandmethods.blogspot.com/2014/04/intelligence-assessment-and.html). A few members of the intelligence community came out and gave their blessings to the story, although not all were equally enthusiastic about it. And nobody offered evidence, instead falling back on the old trust us. Long time intel folks were certainly not convinced, no doubt remembering story lines from the past. And our professional diplomats such as Jack Matlock and political ambassadors such as the anti-Putin Michael McFaul are not convinced either. They and the rest of us in this vast field of “Russology” don’t think the Russians are amateurs who leave giant clues around to track their activity. Our own government doesn’t leave tracks, either, and you can ask Angela Merkel about that. So unless we get something substantive as proof, we have to hold onto our doubts.

This began, of course, as a domestic operation from the defeated Democrats. Guys like Podesta and the cheat Donna Brazile had to allay the wrath of the donors, who spent three times as much to lose as Trump did to win. But the diversion went so well, with the public so ready to believe that the Russians were behind all the upset, that they began to trot Russia out as an excuse for everything and as an all-purpose weapon to bludgeon the president to death. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and the Dems socialist brethren in Europe are now using the same scare tactic to explain their own political misfortunes.

But wait. We now know — don’t we? — that the CIA has the capacity to pretend to be Papa Bear, Mama Bear and Baby Bear, hacking and leaving a message “from Russia with love.” I am now wondering: if there really were hacks of European institutions, and not just fevered European imaginations, could the hackers be the CIA? How terribly convenient, that just as the CIA and its feckless intel cohorts were claiming the Russians have hacked all European elections, there is evidence of a hack of all European governments! Talk about proof. It’s like the USG having a printing press for money: it never runs out. That’s the CIA. The Lie Factory. (And hey. I have friends in the CIA utterly beyond reproach — but they don’t run the shop.)

And how about Jeff Sessions? The allegations (and virtually all headlines) suggest Sessions had “meetings” with Russian Ambassador Kislyak, implying some wrong-doing. But in fact he only had one meeting with the Ambassador, in his Capitol Hill office as a high-ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. What Kislyak was looking for other than to make a contact with someone he knew had influence in the Trump camp we do not know and will not know unless the CIA is now into mind-reading. Sessions did not meet him as a Trump surrogate, but as a US Senator and he did not discuss campaign business or Russian “assistance” to said campaign. Sessions also bumped into the Ambassador among many others at a cocktail during the Republican National Convention. And by the way, as an example of how the Dems play this, they also propose that the absence of Kislyak at their own convention showed his favoritism toward Trump and bolsters their claim Trump is a traitor sucking up to Russian intelligence agents. On the other hand, the DNC convention took place only a couple of weeks after DNC staffer and Sanders supporter Seth Rich was murdered without any known reason on a DC street, and just as the Wikileaks information on Dem corruption was pouring out to the world. And of course the private security firm that allowed the DNC leak in the first place was claiming “the Russians did it!” Can’t blame Kislyak for staying home.

So here we are in the grip of a new wave of McCarthyism and the irony is that it is the left who are in charge of the campaign. And the hearth and home of the traitorous left is exactly where Joe McCarthy said it was, in Hollywood and New York, the intellectuals who move the actors’ and actresses’ lips to sell their ideology. They are offspring of the men and women McCarthy accused of being a Fifth Column. Now instead of scrounging for another job after their exposure as anti-Americans, they brazenly crawl out from under their rocks, waving their communist banners, raging to shut down ideas and debate across our society. In between snorts.

They demonize the President and his supporters for having the wrong ideas. They want to tar Trump as the  man elected by Moscow. Put these two streams of thought together and they spell treason; they spell evil; they spell Hitler. And, by the way, they spell — if the Dems succeed — “overthrow of an elected US government.” The Democrats are trying to set up boundaries for free speech and free association. They are declaring the Russians “off limits” in exactly the same way the Soviet officials declared to their citizens that America was “off limits,” and for the same reason. If you can’t sell your ideas in free competition, shut down the competition. They are declaring that anybody who likes Russia is a traitor, anybody who speaks to Russians even casually is a felon, anybody who admires Putin’s leadership skills is an…Alger Hiss (another left-wing favorite!).

And that’s today. Maybe tomorrow they will love Russia, and there will be a new enemy to slay. Truth is relative, baby.

And while the Dems have their reasons to do this to Trump, others in the GOP are complicit in his attempted political assassination. What they object to is that Trump has dared to turn US official attitudes toward Russia since the Cold War on their heads. Instead of the obsolete concept of encircling and containing Russia — a theory that had its glorious moment in the post-WW II world — he wants to treat Russia as we would any other country, based on the facts and not preconceived notions. He doesn’t have an axe to grind, and so the left grinds theirs all the harder. And the agents of the military-industrial complex grind away, too.

Now it turns out, per the President, that the intel services had his phones in Trump Tower wire-tapped before the election. Collecting information. Hoping to collect dirt. Really hoping to catch treason. (Yes, Virginia, there are crazy people.) I heard Geraldo Rivera abasing himself by trying to excuse this inexcusable act and shame on him. We are in such dangerous waters. And I think by now people are catching on.

America, the Ridiculous

I write while the US of A is in mid-throes of anti-Russian madness. Russia, if the increasingly demented members of the US politocracy are to be believed, is the cause of every ill in the United States and the entire rest of the world that is not friends with VLADIMIR PUTIN (cue: Jaws music). The Russians caused Brexit, which nobody tumbled to until after the Russians got Donald Trump elected to the presidency, when the scales fell from their eyes and they saw pretty  much everywhere the hand of Satan, aka Vlad. The wicked Russian released ill-gotten information snatched (supposedly) straight from the Dems themselves. The stolen goods were rich with evidence of corruption and wrongdoing, ethnic contempt and contempt for Americans — and not one word of it was ever denied. But the culprit isn’t the corrupt nasty folks led by Hillary and Bill Clinton. No, the culprit is, of course, Russia. How dare Russia lift the veil on all that crime? If indeed Russia had anything to do with it, and there is precious little evidence of this claim.

This is the last act from the Theater of Brattiness best exemplified by its icon and champion, a man from nowhere with a lot of sly self-promotion but not a shred of depth or wisdom. He was the ultimate empty suit kept afloat by ego. I imagine he sails off (not too far! Kalorama!) to billions paid into a variety of secret accounts by such as Soros and Buffett. Maybe I’m wrong! Maybe I’m the only one who thinks he was a robot paid for by the elite to push globalization and even more unimaginable wealth for the unimaginably wealthy.

But by the way, even if we all know that the latest bit of buffoonery — the explusion of 35 Russian secret operatives and adding some more Russian institutions to the sanctions list — can be easily reversed by Trump (and should be), it all leaves a very nasty taste in Russian mouths. In particular as the USG once again fails to provide evidence to support very tendentious claims of Russian interference in foreign elections, and US elections at that. The US itself of course has carried out and continues to carry out dirty ops to influence foreign elections, up to and including illegal wars (aka “bombing campaigns”). Just ask a Ukrainian, any Latin American, an Iraqi, maybe a Libyan. So from the Russian point of view, it’s just more US bullshit ordered by the Clown Brigade.

From my point of view, as well. First of all, we have the fact that the indictment against Russia and against Putin himself appears to have sprung full-blown from the forehead of the CIA. This US Temple of Lies has concocted more false stories than all the top tabloids combined. And fantasies concocted not only for distribution abroad, or just to the US public at large. They concoct false stories for their own employees, by funneling lies from the operations side to the analytical side, backed up by “highly credible source” gold stars. Then their own analysts churn out finished analysis coming to exactly the right conclusion for getting policy action from State and other brain-dead agencies, as the CIA would think and speak of them.

So, here is the way it is: with no new information, unless it might be a suddenly discovered CIA asset with the very information they were seeking, the CIA reconsiders earlier conclusions, made when it was assumed the US public was going to hail the Queen. Back then, the intel community concluded that the Russians could not be proven to have been the hackers of the DNC or Podesta. They didn’t even mention Wikileaks. But suddenly the CIA believes it does in fact have the evidence, right there before one’s eyes, abracadabra. Now we know practically the patronymics of the hackers, where they come from, who was behind them, and what that Master of the Game was aiming to do. The CIA issued two photos of guys who look mushroomy enough for the technogeek world, but I’m not sure it convinces me of anything other than that. The false analysis grounded in false facts is shared with all the other agencies, some of them notorious dupes with the analytical skill of gravel, and others much sharper if not always ethical. The latter would include the FBI, which wasn’t buying the CIA story until, I imagine, gobs of pressure came down on them. (Here’s a suspicion: that the polit kommisars at CIA felt justified in a made-up story helpful to the Democrats because in their fevered imagination Comey and arch-enemy FBI were on Trump’s side and cost the Dems the election. Excuse me while I cough up a hair-ball.) Both Wikileaks and the self-identified intermediary between the DNC and Wikileaks deny all such charges, but what do they know? Obviously they are in on it with Vlad and the Reds.

And of course now we have the response to Congressional and public demands for the evidence behind the anti-Russian actions by the US president. What  has been provided is a much condensed version of far denser bull-shit that offers no substantial evidence of Russian hacking, much less a link to Wikileaks. Most damning of all, it is prefaced with a disclaimer that essentially says, nobody in the intelligence community believes a word of this malarkey and we’re not taking the fall for it, so read it at your own peril.

Meanwhile, Vlad the Impaler is having a merry old Christmas and New Year’s. He is so well-seated internationally that he can afford to scoff at the expulsion of Russian diplomats and hold his retaliatory hand pending arrival of a grown-up at the White House. He even invited US diplomatic children to a wonderful Christmas celebration party at the Kremlin. But he knows the USG won’t allow those little kids to attend, it would be a rejection of Obama’s snit. So one day instead of someone saying, “when I was little I went to a Kremlin Christmas party and met the president of Russia!” — they will say “I didn’t go to the Kremlin Christmas party or meet the president of Russia.”

It is good that the days of the Dark Emperor (and I’m imbuing that with a spiritual rather than epidermal significance) are drawing to their sickly close, although he threatens to raise his battalions for future battle. But for the moment, let me give thanks to God, again and again, for destroying the plans these people had for us and giving us a small opening to redeem this country.

Happy New Year to all!

Jigsaw Puzzles: The US Putting in the last Piece

I have been hammering away at this theme for a long time now and my instinct tells me we are near endgame (in so many ways). US “foreign policy strategists” have walked our government through the paces necessary to bring America to a point where we Americans might be duped into going for forced regime change in Syria. (For those growing up on Jupiter: this used to be called invasion and occupation). There was an essential miscalculation of timing here. Far too long passed between when our government began mulling over another war in Syria and the present, when our country’s entire complex of war hawks have congregated around the vile Mrs. Clinton like vultures. Into the abyss of opportunity lost fell our advantage. Russia saw the need, saw the challenge and took the chance. On all fronts, the signs are of WWIII, with an arrogant US demanding Russia and Syria and Iran kneel. It ain’t gonna happen. I’m not going to get into China and affronts to its power within its region. And then we come to “what next?”

Americans are afraid and they should be. Just imagine that every person we have killed by drone, direct invasion, proxies or bombs at 35,000 feet springs up into a family of 30 or 40 or 400 who wish the US active harm. That’s a lot of hate and revenge.

The Russians have a right to both fear and be mad at Islamist murderers, who not that ago took over an elementary school and murdered hundreds of persons in Russia. Then there was the jihadist take-over of the Moscow theater where the hit musical “North-West” was playing. In the house there were the young, the old, the rich, the poor, the good and the bad. When the Russians decided that the people wearing suicide bombs might be nearing the end of their physical resistance and the moment when the bombs would go off, the Russians used a gas to subdue them. Then they sent in their own Spec Ops teams to kill each and every terrorist, male and female, where they lay snoozing next to knocked-out hostages. Unfortunately, as a German doctor interviewed told one news outlet, in order to insure that not one adult terrorist survived to trigger a device, it was inevitable that those taking the theater would sacrifice the very young and the very old and ill. Russia had a hard choice to make and Russia made it. It always does.

The same thing happened in Syria, where Russia was not itching to get into a fight. But just as the rest of us did, the Russians wondered what the hell was going on when the US was inert in the face of growing ISIS power and control of territory. Why wasn’t the US, up to its eyeballs in the Syrian civil war, going after ISIS and its affiliates and those of Al Qaeda in that country? ISIS was stealing oil and shipping it through Turkey to finance its operations; Turkey did nothing. It got a commission. The US did  nothing. All they wanted was to weaken Assad. Screw the rest of the issues. It wasn’t until Russia made public the aerial footage of the oil convoys heading to the Turkish border that the US decided it had to act or tell the truth regarding its intentions. Today it brags how stalwart it is against ISIS. Believe it at your peril.

Now thanks to Mr. Assange (note for future historians: a genuine and early global political prisoner. end note.) and Wikileaks  we know that in 2006, our hero GW Bush was being advised by a lot of the same folks who are now advising Hillary Clinton on the subject of how to undermine Assad and the stability of Syria via sabotage, infiltration and subterfuge. The advisers have all been big shots in the USG and players in the military-industrial complex.

Anybody out there, if somebody tries to tell you Russia should be before a Human Rights Tribunal because of Syria, you refer them to that fact. It was the US that started the Syrian civil war for its own dirty purposes long before the visible results appeared. Russia is only there because the US is totally lost in its own corruption and unable to guide the world. The Russians are the single most important factor in the beating back of ISIS in Syria, in which the US has played chiefly a negative role through our arming and training and support of terrorists. “Alt-terror.”

So, here’s where we are. The US is getting tired of the upstart Russia, with Iranian help, blocking US power in Syria. It wants done. How will it do it? Enter: human rights charade. Aleppo is just the ticket. Russia Today (RT), the most hated of media outlets due to its enormous global popularity and its willingness to disclose the dirt hidden away by our governments, reports that eastern Aleppo doesn’t house just innocent civilians, but a whole slew of American-backed terrorists (Al Nusra) using these people as human shields. But the US does not consider going after Al-Nusra to be a priority per Admiral James Kirby aka diplomatic spokesperson. They want to go after Assad. But dang, the “bad guys” are using their lawful power in the UNSC to block the US from another war.

Ah-ha. Go to the bogus UN human rights committee, which has no veto power, and get a resolution calling what Russia is doing an “atrocity” and a “human rights catastrophe.” Outlaw any action in Aleppo, where the US can’t win, but hopes to carve out an area of operations from which to launch further actions against Assad. Hey, isn’t that what the international legal system is for? That’s what the federal legal system is for in the US.

I’m sure it’s all ho-hum by now. We have an election on hand with the choices being Dopey or the Evil Queen.

I always loved Dopey.

Vote the War Party! Vote Hillary!

I am largely resigned to all the things that I fear are to come. These start with an effective one-party takeover of the USG, the rewriting of all laws and rules (including those governing changes to the Constitution) to make them ideologically correct, and legislative and judicial branches marching in step with the Executive in foisting on us a State Political Philosophy. The processes already begun by the left will go at a faster pace — from the spread of mandatory unionism to vast State control over the media (including and especially the internet), from mandatory voting to suppression of religious expression. There will be no demurring from the State position, as both the legislature and the judiciary will be firmly under the control of the far left. Ruth Bader Ginsberg could give you a lecture on how “n’sync” the lefties on the Supreme Court are with the world’s progressives. These new justices don’t care if you know they have already decided cases not before them, just as the faux journalists don’t care if you call them propagandists. Biased, and proud of it!

The other worry that I fear will be realized is that a Clinton presidency would lead to heightened conflict and even war with Russia, in Syria certainly and perhaps in Ukraine, as well. The USG has already trained and armed Kiev’s special forces who only recently tried to infiltrate saboteurs into the military facilities in Crimea, in the course of which they lost their lives. The US and Kiev of course denied it all, calling it a provocation by Russia. The incident ratcheted up tensions in eastern Ukraine, with Russia’s proxies fighting the US proxies; and it also expedited Moscow’s delivery of state-of-the-art anti-air systems and other sophisticated military hardware to the peninsula. Like it or not, Russia owns Crimea and within a few short years, it will be a major military port bristling with all sorts of armament and technology. Anybody who plans to wage battle in the Black Sea should be prepared for total war.

Kiev’s provocations, just like those of Georgia, are oil poured on an already volatile situation. And it is this kind of reckless behavior that the US is encouraging and facilitating. (I still think the Georgian president was nudged to take action in S. Ossetia by the American military.) Our course is fraught with danger, but it does not deter the unholy alliance of the neocons and the corrupt Clinton camp in pushing for Ukraine membership in NATO. After all, it was her husband who made the fateful decision to enlarge NATO, why should she not be the one that takes it right to Moscow’s doorstep and over it into war? Expect Mrs. Clinton to deepen US-Ukraine military collaboration in ways that are directly threatening to Russian national security and, as a result, to our own.

In Syria, rumor has it that Madame’s first order of business will be to undertake regime change, Russia be damned. If this is true, we should all take to the streets to make our strenuous disagreement palpable. (But it won’t happen.) Russia is not going to back down even in the face of NATO aggression (and of course there will be no UNSC resolution legitimizing US aggression). Moscow will reinforce its military at Latakia and increase its air sorties. The Syrians have already given Russia use of a second base, and now the Chinese are getting more involved, as well. They will be working overtime to bring under the control of Damascus as great a swath of Syrian territory as possible, bombing anything that moves and that includes Americans. It would then be a shooting war.

Hillary Clinton wants a war. She wants to pull off a victory somewhere, this American cowgirl, that would dwarf anything Obama did. Alas for all of us, the places that are easy to bomb and take over with proxies have already been bombed and taken over. They are the rubble you see strewn across the Middle East. What remains are the nations that created nuclear arsenals precisely to prevent an aggressor from attempting, directly or indirectly, an assault on their sovereignty. Those nations include China and Russia and (probably) Iran, all regional powers that have resisted US dominion and demands. In the real world, one would think, “how can we reconcile our needs and interests so as to avoid war?” But I don’t think Hillary operates in the real world. She operates wherever it is that she communes with Eleanor Roosevelt.

And how could I not mention that weasel-faced jerk Mike Morrell, formerly of the CIA and now a Hillary adviser. (This is a good fit, as both the CIA and Hillary Clinton absolutely require that employees have the ability to lie glibly and sell any story as the truth.) Morell formerly condemned Hillary for such negligence in handling of classified information that he was absolutely certain the illegally-used server had been hacked by multiple sources. Now he thinks she’d be a steady hand at the helm. Of course, here’s what Morell thinks about icing our supposed foes and actual rivals:

“What they need is to have the Russians and Iranians pay a little price,” Morell said. “When we were in Iraq, the Iranians were giving weapons to the Shia militia, who were killing American soldiers, right? The Iranians were making us pay a price. We need to make the Iranians pay a price in Syria. We need to make the Russians pay a price.” Morell said the killing of Russians and Iranians should be undertaken “covertly, so you don’t tell the world about it, you don’t stand up at the Pentagon and say ‘we did this.’ But you make sure they know it in Moscow and Tehran.”

Judge for yourself. Who is a greater danger to continued life on the planet? Donald Trump who wants to collaborate with Russia to defeat ISIS in Syria; who wants to toss that disastrous Utopian fantasy, nation-building, overboard; who thinks that conflict is the last resort, not the first? Or a woman who has surrounded herself with the worst of the war hawks and the military-industrial complex, in which the lackey Morell is but a small cog? The latter group is drooling at the chance to go to war against Russia, and I predict they will try a two-prong approach in both Syria and Ukraine. I think they are incredibly thick and arrogant and I also think they are extremely dangerous. Thanks to the Dems and the GOP elite, both in bed with the war industrialists, we have a military so light and fast that it can destroy anything. What we don’t have is a competent diplomatic corps, a wise or truthful government, or any clue what the hell we are doing. How many countries do we have to destroy and leave destroyed for decades to come before we come to our senses?

Trump needs to push Clinton on her plans for Syria, and ask whether the rumor of a planned January 2017 war against Assad is correct. He needs to press her on her plans for further expansion of NATO. He needs to demand to know what weaponry has been shipped to Ukraine and what training we are providing. He needs to ask if the US military or NATO military are advising Ukraine on its military provocations against Russia. He needs to expose all the corrupt ties between certain Democrats and the Ukrainian US-imposed regime. These are all critical matters and the Psychopathic Liar should not be allowed to skate without warning us what she has up her sleeve.

More drama and excitement than I can bear

It sure is looking difficult for Hillary Clinton to make even the Democrats love her. As far as I can discern, the spine of her fandom is the forever spinster female clump worried about pretty much everything and looking for a safe space with the Queen of Corruption. Go figure. But an awful lot of the increasingly powerful far-left base of the Democrat party hate Hillary Clinton as much as we of the center-right do. I think they’d rather eat horse poop than vote for the self-righteous and vicious Mrs. Clinton, who would stop at nothing to be president of this US of A. (Aside: how much do you think each Clinton thigh is weighing in at that it requires  thousands of dollars of fabric to cover?)

I don’t think this means the left will vote Trump. But some of the more determined, discerning and delinquent of the Dems will vote for Trump, seeing his victory as the only way to bring down the Clinton/Obama machines and open the way for the real socialists, The People. (See Sarandon, Susan.) Many others will stay home or vote for an acceptable ideological alternative, such as Jill Stein. Jill not Hill. The not-Hillary votes hurt Hillary even if they don’t directly help Trump. (And by the way, same holds true for the Northeast Republicans and Trump.)

It’s clear to me that the Democrat party is about to morph into an official socialist party. It isn’t going to happen under Hillary Clinton, who is owned by Wall Street and big finance. As long as the base of that party follows the official script, there will be no change in direction or philosophy. But a defeat in this election engineered by the far left of the party base pretty much guarantees that they will take control. The Clintons know this too. (The Obamas, sly scoundrels, will make themselves icons of this movement. Move over, Sanders.)

To the rebels in the Democrat camp: take a gander at the stuffy old GOP and learn something. Rise up. Punish your party by voting the corrupt oligarchy controlling it out of power, giving YOU a chance to organize and overthrow. Pull out both your Alinksy and Lenin dicta (oops! which is which?) and hone your skills. I’m sure that sooner rather than later you are going to eviscerate the Clinton machine and replace it with that of The People.

Trump is holding firm on his maverick foreign policy stance, in defiance of every hawk and participating member of the military-industrial complex, headquartered in Virginia. (Is it any surprise Virginia is pro-Clinton?) I like it. He can’t be prodded into supporting the gung-ho, get-Russia, rah-rah patriotism of the people enriched from the money generated in US/NATO military adventurism. And he has support from the men and women actually fighting and dying in our endless wars. In that vein, I note that this is another Wall Street Journal obsession: Trump’s challenging of the trans-Atlantic mythology embodied in NATO. The latest idiocy — arising from the very assumption that American voters are nincompoops — is the charge from the corrupt Hillary camp (among which I count the Wall Street Journal) that the Russians are helping Trump by releasing stolen DNC emails that allow American voters see how stinkingly corrupt the Democrat party has become during the Clinton-Obama years. The Dems’ aim is to deflect people from contemplating the rot inside the DNC in favor of quivering at the prospect of a Russia so omnipotent that it has stolen sacred (dirty) information and is now using it to help (gasp) Donald Trump.

And moving to Trump. His press conference on Wednesday was a huge (yuuuuuge) hit. I couldn’t believe it. I was humbled. I thought Trump was a bozo. I was so wrong.

He took Hillary Clinton by the throat and shook her good, like a Jack Russell terrier with a rat. He answered — I mean, ANSWERED, all the questions put by a hostile press. That included those emanating from Katie Couric who has segued in old age from America’s Sweetheart to Extremely Plain But Powerful and Intelligent Reporter Rooting for The People.  We were allowed the spectacle of one in-the-tank reporter after another urging Trump to admit that Putin was intervening on his behalf. Trump never “moved on” from or “evaded” the questions. He answered. No interests in Russia. No contacts with Putin. But he is open to collaborating with Russia to defeat ISIS. ISIS. An acronym the DNC couldn’t pronounce until Trump ridiculed their lapse. (And Hillary prefers the highly deceitful name “radical jihad” — as if there is a moderate Holy War? She still can’t force herself to implicate Islam in the bloodshed and madness that is engulfing us all.)

I especially liked Trump’s demand that the obedient left-wing press ask that Hillary do likewise and take all the hard questions and provide answers, too. It was a very good touché to the self-righteous and boringly One Think journalists who tried to change the focus from a dirty DNC to Putin. It doesn’t work. The average American can’t get past Putin as a kind of Windows Icon for villainy. What they know is that plotting to undo somebody because he’s a Jew is pretty anti-Semitic. And that doesn’t even take into account the Taco Bell comment. Que pendejo.

I thought Trump wouldn’t pivot. I worried about his grasp. But his grasp of the American spirit of discontent is better than mine. We are all sick of being spun and misled and lied to. We are tired of being taken for granted and counted by what is between our legs or the color of our skin or our party affiliation. We want an end to this suffocation by government bureaucracy and Saul Alinsky.

Trump isn’t a Republican. I like that. I am not a Republican anymore either. But we took what was becoming a useless political appendage, and hopefully we can turn this movement into a viable political entity.

God willing.

Who Cares?

I’m coming close to that state of blissful indifference to everything that I once experienced in a traffic accident that didn’t happen, but thanks only to Heavenly Intervention. Only this time I’m not anticipating that God will stop doing something important, like working on “Human Being, Type II,” to save our sorry behinds from what is heading our way.

Trump has won the Republican candidacy. His big ugly persona carried the day. Right now, in a match-up with Hillary Clinton, Trump leads (Rasmussen poll) by a couple of points. But another poll has her up by 13 points. On the other hand, Guccifer the Mad Romanian has told the FBI that hacking Hillary Clinton’s server was a snap. (Despite the fact that her computer was under Secret Service observation at all times, per Mrs. C.) What are the chances that the Russians and the Chinese and probably a dozen other countries didn’t hack into it as well? I bet Mr. Putin has a special file cabinet full of her emails. We all await with bated breaths the announcement of Hillary Clinton’s indictment, sure to come at any moment, or maybe not.

Still, it is apparent that the great majority of American voters agree with me that this is the worst set of choices given to our country ever. Trump just hits the 41 percent mark and she is at 39. She is the walking personification of corruption and venality, she is rank with it, but still — 39 percent of voters want her to continue to use public service to enrich herself and her miserable little family.

As for Trump, he is Erratic with a capital E. He once boasted he can do business with Putin and get back on good terms with Russia, but he just told the world that if Russian jets buzzed US warships close to Russia’s border he would just have them shot down. Don’t you just love a strong man? Trump also thinks transgendered people should get to use the bathroom of their choice. He wouldn’t even demand a genital check. Do the people thumping Trump’s drum have any idea how totally uninformed and off the wall he is, how unpredictable and unfixed? I don’t want to ponder what would lie ahead under a Trump presidency — whom would he select for the Supreme Court, for example? A New York Republican? The guy is like a ticking time bomb.

Trump is for Trump, it’s that simple. Others may feel the outflow of his good will, but it’s all about him. Are there no politicians today except for these self-absorbed and sad examples of the decay of US society and politics?

But I have to vote for Trump. Because the other side offers no choices either. Can we really endure four years of Hillary in Mao suits with both hands in the cookie jar? Wouldn’t we need to do a sonogram to look for all the loot she would carry out of the White House this time? Can we afford the pick she would make to the Supreme Court?

So I’m trying to zone out and not think about what alternative futures await us, as NATO “ponders Russian risk-taking” instead of worrying about its own and the US goes so far down the drain that you can hear the sucking noise.

Instead let’s turn to Syria, which was supposedly in a truce-like situation. Russia withdrew most of its air forces, but stated it would continue to support the Syrian offensive against ISIS and any others threatening Syria, as needed. Russia was reporting ceasefire violations by the US-backed forces from the start of the agreement, which is no surprise. The US is trying to get their mercenaries deployed into new operational sites before they go to the next phase of fighting.

As I’ve said before, US Plan A and Plan B were always intended by the US to be one plan to overthrow Assad. Plan A was a mutually agreed path toward a negotiated political settlement that, at Russian and Syrian insistence, could not include the ouster of Assad except through a popular referendum, and at Turkey’s insistence, couldn’t include the Kurds who are fighting ISIS in Syria. Allowing a referendum on who should lead the government without first ousting Assad is something the US waffled on but secretly abhorred. Since the US always planned to use the ceasefire to put their troops into place, it knew Plan A would fail when Russia and Syria reacted with force to prevent that happening. Hence, Plan B, the overt armed overthrow of Assad that, the US and NATO will argue, was made unavoidable by Assad and Russia’s assault on civilian populations that just happen to be in areas into which either ISIS or US proxy forces are infiltrating or where they are actively fighting. US proxies are already opening a front inside Damascus, so there will of course be civilian casualties when Syrian forces attack them. Those casualties will provide the US the pretext it always uses for its wars — “humanitarian catastrophe.” Then what do we hav? A face-off between Russia’s air force and the US air force. With either Hillary Clinton at the helm and thirsting for her first real war, or Donald Trump there getting ready to play show-off, the US is in serious trouble.

And finally we have eastern Europe and the Baltic states, where the US seems to think it can put as many tanks and men on Russia’s borders as it wants, hold as many war exercises aimed against Russia as it likes, and still act affronted when Russia buzzes its aircraft or its soldiers. The US is the clear aggressor in this situation and if there ever was a peace movement in Europe, this is the time for it. But since Europe is being swamped with illegals from all those countries we’re wrecking, I guess that’s not in the cards. Now Russia is putting three new military divisions on its western, northern and southern borders. That should calm things down.

The Besieged Mrs. Clinton and Other Good News

Hillary Clinton is in very very deep doo-doo. The FBI has stumbled across something in those unsuccessfully “disappeared” Clinton e-mails that apparently perked them up enough to open a second investigation into the Clinton Foundation. This Foundation is gaining an ever seamier reputation for its corrupt practices, such as using the power of the Secretary of State to secure massive donations all available to the Clintons for their felonious use. I’d love to be the forensic accountant tracing donations to the Global Slush Fund. And tracking outflows from the Foundation to other entities, perhaps in a way that made a trace hard. It’s pretty clear that the Foundation they set up is intended to pad the financing of Hillary Clinton’s run for the presidency, giving her enough non-traceable funds to make the difference between victory and defeat. This would be the much more clever and invisible version of the “small donations from abroad” scam that heavily financed Obama’s catapult to the presidency. Apparently the FBI is trying to untangle those intertwining parts, connecting the dots in the Clintons’ influence-buying game.

If the Foundation is in trouble, I’d imagine our pal Bill isn’t sleeping any easier than his homely wife.  It couldn’t happen to two nicer people. I was looking at photos of the two and thinking: he looks pretty bad these days. Bill’s red nose is starting to look absolutely natural in that landscape of aging skin as he tries desperately to recapture his glib, sexy rock-star days. And Hillary is, despite her surgical work, still an ugly old white woman. And an unlikable one at that. If their offer is two for one, I think they’ve lost the youth vote.

Now to the GOP side. Here the waters are murky indeed. Trump seems to be cycling into some sort of a mania, saying really nutty things like he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and none of his supporters would care. That sounds a lot like he is calling his supporters insane, or criminally inclined, or just stupid. It also sounds a lot like he himself is losing all touch with reality. Now the utterly inexplicable decision not to participate in the debate because of Megyn Kelly’s alleged hatred of and bias toward him. Unlikely excuse and if it’s sincere, he’s a fool. Who gives him the absolute right to pick his interlocutors? If he can’t deal with hard questions, he’s not going to win any national election. Enough with his demonizing anybody who questions him. We already have had this kind of president and we don’t want another one. Worse, he now begins again and in capital letters to look like the circus clown, performing and un-serious. I think he may be faltering under the enormous pressure on him. He seems to be spinning out. But the tragedy is that if he isn’t chosen, he could try to take down the GOP with him. A suit against Cruz on the basis of his US citizenship? Hey, Donald: we already had a guy born in Kenya and raised in Malaysia as president, so don’t worry about the Canadian angle. They speak the same lingo, more or less.

Trump’s unpredictability and political wildness raise the possibility or even likelihood that the money men and the ruling Republican elite will unite behind some other candidate deemed able to beat whomever the Democrat Socialists nominate. I still think Rubio is the likeliest candidate. He has all the qualities to be a star candidate and in particular to dance rings around either of the Golden Agers being run by the Democrat Socialists. He could best either of them in a debate. I think he could get a lot of the Latino vote, especially among the girls. But Ted Cruz is also excellent. My favorite Rand Paul isn’t going to get close to the nomination, but he’d be great.

And back to Mrs. Clinton and the question of the day: is it okay to run a person for president when said person is rumored to be headed to indictment for her security breaches? The Socialists of course say “yes,” as long as the felon is not yet found guilty. And of course if elected, there’s that presidential immunity thing. So she could easily bury the whole thing during her first tenure as Madame President. The rumor is rampant that she is going to be indicted for something related to all her electronic and other misbehavior. I think that the FBI is ready, but it is Obama who will decide if the weapon is turned against the Clintons. So far Obama has allowed the FBI to dig and make the Clintons’ lives agony. The unknown is this: at what point is  he  going to call off the dogs? At what point is he going to say, make it go away? Or perhaps a presidential pardon? That would be rich for that boy Obama with his thin black skin. Now Obama has all the power. Will he use it? After all, Bernie Sanders really is his true alter ego, on whom Obama could count to continue pushing his agenda.

On to foreign policy, where things look as lousy as usual. In Germany, women were harassed and worse on New Year’s Eve as they attempted to celebrate. “North African or Middle Eastern looking men” in large numbers joined up to engage in a female-baiting sport and so far Germany’s leaders have done little more than gasp and wring their hands. In Sweden, assaults by the Arab community against the peace-loving native Swedes, including young women, is rising. It is so serious that the peace-loving PM is warning that “in coming years” up to 80,000 self-declared refugees are to be sent home. The Arab/North African inundation is having serious political ramifications in Europe. Nationalist governments may be in the offing, for example in Netherlands where Geert Wilders could be the next top dog. In the security realm, trust is no longer abundant. Individual nations are now reasserting their own border defenses in violation of the Schengen agreement on open borders. This will likely set off a chain reaction, because who can afford NOT to have such controls when the others do? It’s a new era for the EU and it will struggle to survive. All these ugly results from Merkel’s warm outreach to the million Moslem refugees she invited to Germany and the rest of Europe spell likely doom for her government.

In Russia, that nation ended a year of real and painful economic belt-tightening due to EU sanctions, but forged ahead to make Crimea energy-independent from Ukraine and otherwise integrate the region into the Russian Federation. Russia also is moving ahead with the creation of three new military divisions on its western border to counter the NATO build-up in Eastern Europe. Anti-Americanism is at an all time high. Russia’s xenophobia is now in full swing, thanks to US/EU ineptitude in foreign policy.

Turkey continues to deal in stolen Syrian and Iraqi oil and to act as a transfer point for radicals entering Syria to defeat the last secular government in the region. The US continues to cover up Turkey’s crimes while still trying to get them to close their border to the ISIS-facilitated influx of foreign fighters. On the other hand, how much do we want them to close that border if they simply say no and don’t even get their hands slapped?

Jockeying for political talks to end the fighting in Syria continues. The Russians rejected US “opposition fighters” as allies of ISIS and Al Qaeda, but a compromise has been agreed to allow two separate opposition delegations: one made up of actual Syrians who oppose Assad and took up weapons; and the Syrian Kurds. The Turks don’t want the Syrian Kurds involved in the negotiations. I think this is going to be one of those inane political soap operas that go on while in the background the US tries to unseat Assad by proxy force in the face of Russian and Iranian military opposition to that goal.

All in all, it looks to be an interesting year, with both the domestic and international political arenas in full action and the balance of power teetering among a whole host of competing nations. Rocky waters ahead.

End of Year Thoughts

First thought: in just one year we will be bidding an adieu, not fond at all, to Obama and his Politburo. It gives me some spiteful pleasure to watch this comical fraud dwindle in significance as his lame duck period marches on and he amuses himself by giving Americans the finger over and over. Because make no mistake, each and every one of his actions in these last days is a finger to America, just as all his “major achievements” were. Thank God for term limits.

I think Obama’s determination to diminish US Second Amendment rights could be a critical moment in US history. There could be a very powerful backlash. He is also fanning the flames of racial hatred, with his incessant race-baiting and conveyance of the message that “whitey’s lives don’t matter.” Americans really hate Americans these days, and I’m speaking personally as well. When I hear someone moaning about discrimination I just tune out. Who cares. I’m so tired of the left and their incompetence and arrogance. Lefty go home!

In San Bernardino, a massacre crying out for the world to recognize it as act of Islamic terrorism, was instead treated gingerly and with great circumspection by Dopey. He told us, knowing how angry we all would be, that it remained to be seen if the act was one of domestic terrorism or just workplace violence (à la Fort Hood). He also sicced his lapdog Loretta Lynch on us with a a warning not to go persecuting the Moslems in America or face persecution.

Maybe Obama hoped to convince us that the rude jibes of the terrorist’s coworkers at a (gasp) Christmas party were the real trigger for the actions of an offended man who just happened to be Moslem. But then the FBI found the gun arsenal the loving couple was pulling together, and the couple’s murderous plans and their allegiance to radical Islam. Things turned south. It became impossible to pretend that Syed Farook and  Tashfeen Malik — when I hear their names I imagine a glittery duo on Dancing With the Stars — were just people driven to the edge by rudeness.

The final blow was FBI Director Comey asserting the murders were obviously terrorism, after which the President had no option but to call Comey a liar or go along with the truth. But I bet he was fuming all the while about that s.o.b. stepping in and spoiling his fun pulling the leg of the American people. The president, who as usual doesn’t change course when shown the error of his ways, is steadfastly ignoring the extreme vulnerability to terrorism of the US — with its open borders and destructive policies abroad. Instead he is regaling us with one boring speech after another that are somehow supposed to calm us down and make us see we are not in any danger or not much. How lame is that? By now I can hardly believe anybody is still tuning in when he makes another inane pronouncement from some venue that somehow is supposed to imbue him with authority and infallibility. The Pentagon. The White House Oval Office. Next it will be from atop Mt. Rushmore (he’d dearly love his ugly mug up on that mountainside).

On to other issues. I was appalled at the foreign policy positions taken by the GOP candidates at the last debate. Christie was the worst and most ignorant of them all. He seems to think he can use the same Jersey boys persona as a president that you can as a governor of…Jersey. He sets the standard for mindless Russophobia and macho posturing. First off, he can hardly set up a no fly zone in Syria, as he suggests, without first facing down Russian jets which already have a no-fly zone under the authority of the Syrian government. The Russians are within full legal rights to shoot down invading US jets (or any other foreign jets) or attack anti-government opposition troops seeded with US troops. What he is looking for and will certainly find is nuclear war. Christie’s pronouncements sound like something out of a comic book for the patriotically ill.

Pat Buchanan just wrote a column on that very subject. He assesses that there are actually three sensible GOP candidates regarding Russia and foreign policy: Trump, Paul, and Cruz. Seems Cruz actually spoke in favor of giving up this attempt to unseat Assad and suggests maybe we should work with him to defeat ISIS. That’s encouraging. Perhaps in the end common sense will prevail. Lord help us.

Perhaps Christie won’t get a chance to shoot down Russian jets in Syria. It seems the Russians scored with the recent meetings in Moscow between Kerry, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and President Putin. What resulted from this humbling petition from Washington for Moscow’s help was a whole series of cooperative steps in the UN and regarding US-Russian coordination (and perhaps cooperation) in Syria militarily. I’m pretty sure the US sought Russia’s blessing for certain anti-terrorist operations near the border with Turkey and it may have gotten it (or maybe not). Kerry had to give up US demands that Assad first go before any cooperation was possible, a critical victory for Putin and one the US hopes to paper over with a newly-passed and unanimous UNSC resolution on a ceasefire and a “roadmap to peace” in Syria. This resolution makes no mention of the ousting of Assad and instead calls for negotiations among all parties other than the terrorists toward a coalition government and holding of new elections. I can’t underscore enough how important this victory is for Russia, which took the bull by the horns and forced the US to correct its feckless and ruinous course in the Middle East.

On the other hand, it was precisely when pro-Russian Ukrainian president Yanukovich had reached an agreement with domestic opponents that would lead to near-term elections that he was overthrown in a violent coup, supported supposedly by nations such as Poland and Lithuania. So just because the US seems to have accepted that Assad must go, and Syrians must decide the fate of Syria, doesn’t mean any of that is true. Events could interfere with that peaceful outlook.

Merry Christmas. Happy Chanukah. If somebody else out there is having a religious holiday, may yours be good as well.

Stop the World, I Really Would Like to Get Off

In my  last piece I said that ISIS was operating where the Russian jet came down in Syria. Actually it was a whole assortment of jihadists and revolutionary thugs, some affiliated with ISIS and some fielded by Turkey, and others perhaps financed by the USG. Who knows? All I know is that the Russian media showed a video clip of the motley crew of murderers looting the body and shouting “Allahu Akbar!” (Didn’t see that clip on any  US stations.) I suppose there might be some people who can draw a line between these creeps and ISIS, but I am not one of them and nobody at the receiving end of their brutality would be, either.

But now I’ve just heard Obama continue building his legacy as a world-class buffoon and jackass. In his speech on how climate change is going to part the seas and solve the Syrian conflict, he drew a picture of a poor isolated benighted Russia fighting to prop up a man, Assad, whom the whole world wants to see gone because he is a brutal man; and urging Putin to come around to common sense and give up his support of Assad (surrender or else!) and start trying to defeat ISIS beside the US and all its one million nation allies. I almost choked.

The US has been creating havoc in Syria for almost four years, after having decided that Assad was not amenable enough to US control and direction, being friends of the Arch Enemy Russia and the other (sort of) Arch Enemy Iran. We are responsible for many, many thousands of deaths and destruction beyond belief across the Middle East. Our presence fed ISIS and it grew and grew and grew, and we putzed around, with a gazillion weapons passing into ISIS hands straight from the US, or rather via Turkey, who is pals with a whole slew of mercenary groups with radical ideologies, the hand-maidens of ISIS, and who is trying chiefly to take down Assad and the Kurds who are fighting ISIS.

That is how the US was fighting ISIS for four years.

And it was only when ISIS had advanced so far that it was threatening to take the country, and in the obvious vacuum of intelligent mission direction from the US, that Russia jumped into the fray. An ISIS victory in Syria and then Iraq was an unacceptable scenario. Such a development would significantly heighten the threat to Russia with its Moslem populations, and to Europe. Further, Europe was under invasion with the efflux from Syria, no big surprise considering the scorched earth policy being pursued in that country. It went in a la Russe — wholeheartedly and without reserve. Russia supported the Syrian Army in its fight against opponents armed and trained and funded by the US, and against ISIS wherever it was. Russia was making a huge difference and the Europeans wanted the US to do likewise. The US looked like a sad, pitiful remnant of a once-great country.

The Russians have declared themselves open to an alliance, but that they will not support the overthrow of Assad and the imposition of a government on Syria. This in US eyes is a capital crime: not doing as told. So despite indications from France and Germany that they could live with Assad for a transitional period, the US won’t budge. And now begins the big propaganda push to turn things around. According to Obama in his latest pronouncements from on high, the US is powerful and decisive, has all the answers, and all the friends and all the money. Russia is strictly JV. Russia must stop being stubborn and just join everybody else in doing as told. No deviation from the US position is allowable. Until then, the US president suggested, we will fight in Syria separately.

This arrogant presentation by our Clown President has sealed the deal. Putin will never give on Assad now, and will commit Russian forces fully to defend the Assad government and Russia’s vital security interests. That means there will be no second Turkish shoot-down that goes without a military response. This means that any of those nations flying jet aircraft may cross paths with a Russian jet and there you are, Bob’s your uncle, I told you so. This will happen even if there is coordination at the strictly field level. There will be a military collision unless an alliance is agreed that satisfies the chief goal of defeating ISIS and permits a sane and focused approach to the task.

I urge you to listen to The Idiot’s speech and judge for yourself: knowing what  you know, is this man insane? Is our country too? We have to stop this madness. If we want to be in Syria where we  now act in violation of international law, no matter how we make it appear, we should accommodate Russia’s entirely reasonable position concerning Assad’s status. He will head an interim government and then there will be elections and if they want him, he will still be president. If they don’t, he will go. Syrians will decide, not the US or anybody else. Is that less than we would want for ourselves?
